Your Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system works to regulate key functions of the human body.

There are three key components to this system: cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids and metabolic enzymes. Cannabinoid receptors sit on the outside of the cells and transmit different changes to the body. Endocannabinoids are molecules that activate the cannabinoid receptors naturally and metabolic enzymes destroy cannabinoid receptors. These three components are found in every part of the body and work together when something goes wrong to help get everything back in place and working together properly. The benefit of cannabis is that many of the cannabinoids work as endocannabinoids to help activate cannabinoid receptors to help get the body back on track and address any issues the body may have. Endocannabinoids help to regulate the function of the body and when there is a disruption cannabis can help to aid the endocannabinoids in restoring the functions of the body. The presence and critical function of the endocannabinoid system across the body, including the nervous and immune systems, explains why such a wide variety of ailments are responsive to medicinal cannabis.
